Project Scope

• The new Biomedical Research Facility (BMRF) for Western University and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry will advance the school’s mission of “being a program of choice for exceptional education and learning”. This will be strengthened with the new research-intensive academic environment that will be enhanced by the design and construction of this new facility.
• Although the building construction was incredibly complex requiring large attention to detail, the construction was started at the very beginning of the pandemic. Through-out construction, Norlon needed to constantly monitor the ever-changing lead times due to COVID-19 shut downs, as well as navigating changes due to Western University and Ontario guidelines, which impacted manpower availability.
• Norlon met the schedule requirements by supplementing trade manpower through a variety of options and coordinating with trades to adjust the phasing and scheduling of work depending on availability of material and manpower.
